You Don't Even Need To See Me...
"No Man Is An Island" John Donne.
Everyday, everyone, everywhere carries with them an influence. Though it has been called by many names (i.e., aura, atmoshphere), every man, woman, boy, or girl has it. Everyone you come in contact with has it. You have it.
And though you may never speak a word, or even look their way, your influence has an affect on everyone you come into contact with.
You are what you experience. You are what you read. You are what you listen to. You are movies or televisions shows you watch. You are what you drink. You are what you eat. Each of these things informs your thoughts, your words, and your actions; which, in turn, determines what kind of influence you carry.
The choice is yours. Will you choose to take those things into your heart and mind that will corrupt and destroy your friends, and those you love? Or will you choose to take in those things that will uplift not only you, but all of those you will pass... on the street, on the train, at the grocery store, at the mall?
Because of the choice you make, you could be the one who starts to make the world a better place for all of us. Or, you could be the next tool in the hand of the Hater to make this place just that much more difficult for us to survive in.
Either way, we never saw you coming.

I've Got The Power...
The thought goes like this: Every individual and every people group has been given a measure of power. It is then up to the individual or people group to embrace this gift, and make use of it to improve and maintain their own and the lives of others.
One thing that frustrates my friend more than anything is when some individual or people group does not make use of the aforementioned gifts. To my friend, to not take proper advantage of this gift is akin to an American citizen denying his/herself of the "inalienable rights" afforded by the laws of this great land (another week of blog posts by it self!)
This "abdication of power" is no small thing, as it can prevent an individual or people group from reaching their destiny. It can prevent the necessary flow of commerce, and even prevent the necessary rise and fall of the "powers that be"
In any case, for this abdication of power, there is no small price to pay.
In an effort to assist with the maintenance of my friend's sanity, and with the hope of pointing some individual or people group to the right track, in the next couple of posts, I'll look at what could lead an individual or people group to abdicate their power, and also what it takes to reclaim/regain said power
